MamaQuilla Textiles Logo

I discovered the image that would become the MamaQuilla Textiles logo when I was staying in the beautiful city of Quenca, Ecuador. It was the practice of the Spanish invaders to tear down Incan structures and rebuild the city in their own image. A stone with this hand and spiral image was tucked into a truss on a stone causeway. I took a pencil rubbing and later carved it into a linographic print, as a symbol for what endures and survives through strong culture.

MamaQuilla Textiles Logo, derived from pencil tracing on stone.
